GRANTS FOR REGIONAL FOOD PROCESSING

 

Food Processing in Regional Australia Program (FPRAP)

 

Launched in April 2005, the Food Processing in Regional Australia Program (FPRAP) is a competitive, merit-based grants program that aims to stimulate economic activity and employment by funding food processing activities in rural and regional Australia.

 

Under the Program, grants from $15,000-$200,000 are available on a matched funding basis for small to medium sized agrifood businesses proposing a food processing project in rural and regional Australia.

 

To be eligible, applicants must be:

·          operating a small to medium business in the farming, seafood/aquaculture, or food processing industries;

·          operating in rural and regional Australia[1]; and

·          proposing a commercially viable project that will benefit that region.

 

An applicant’s business must have fewer than 200 employees and a turnover under $25 million per year.

[1] Rural and Regional Australia is defined as any location OUTSIDE of the greater metropolitan areas of capital cities (except Darwin), as defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.  Darwin applicants are eligible to apply.
